There are several things you should know to make your visit enjoyable.
Planning
Bring groceries,

The following services are available in the area...
- Groceries can be purchased at Pat's Market or the convenience store in Cobalt Center.
- Spirits are available in Portland (Rt. 66; Tri-Town Plaza) or in East Hapmton (Rt. 66; Cheers).
- Gas is available at Cobalt Center.
- Banks are located in Portland (Main street) and East Hampton (Rt. 66).
- Emergency medical facilities are available in Middletown (Middlesex Hospital) and in Marlborough (Middlesex Hospital Extension).
There is no delivery at the Shack...so do not plan to order Pizza or Chinese food.

Swimsuits, life jackets, water shoes and bait are also recommended.
Arrival
Open Up

Do the following when you arrive at the Shack:
- Put the key back!
- Turn on the Water Pump and Hot Water heater (2 switches in closet).
- Open the windows to let some air in.
- Put the ladder on the dock - if you plan to swim.
- Put the beer in the fridge.

and grab a cold one.
Departure
Make sure you close up the shack.

Please make sure you do the following before leaving the Shack:
- Secure boats, put away tubes, rafts, etc.
- Remove ladder from dock and hang on deck.
- Fold up chairs and store on deck.
- Clean all dishes and clean traps in the sink.
- Sweep and or vacuum floors.
- Check the toilet and make sure it is empty and clean.
- Make sure all appliances are off (toaster oven, coffee maker are unplugged).
- Empty all garbage and recyclables - take them with you.
- Turn off all ceiling fans and lights.
- Close all windows and doors.
- Shut off Water Pump and Hot Water heater (2 switches in closet).
- Lock the doors and put back the key.

Facilities
Feel free to use the canoe, tubes, etc.

Trees, water and animals. Be aware of our neighbor the Northern Water Snake. He and his friends live in the stone walls along the water. They are friendly - not
